The Indian motorcycle fans will witness the arrival of new retro-style motorcycles in the Indian market. In this blog, I'm going to share a list of upcoming retro motorcycles that I expect to launch this year in India.
Husqvarna 401
KTM India brought the Husqvarna brand with the launch of the Vitpilen 250 and the Svartpilen 250 in the Indian market. Now in 2021 Husqvarna plans to expand its product in the 400cc segment. The upcoming Husqvarna 401, will feature a scrambler style design, and the motorcycle will pack rugged looks along with minimalistic body panels. The Husqvarna 401 will be based on the ktm 390 duke, it will pack hardware such as trellis frame, wp source upside-down front forks, a rare monoshock, disc brakes on both the wheels, and ride by wire throttle mechanical specifications. The Husqvarna 401 will come with the same duke 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, and the power and torque output to be similar to the ktm 390 duke. This 373cc engine should produce 43 bhp of power and 37-newton meters of peak torque similar to the 390 duke, with the six-speed gearbox. The Husqvarna 401can be got a slipper clutch function, the 390 duke and the 390 adventure get a quick shifter and we may see the feature on the Husqvarna 401. The official launch timeline for the Husqvarna 401 is not available yet, Husqvarna 401 launch in late 2021 in the Indian market. The Husqvarna 401 would be sold and serviced by the ktm outlets, and I expect Husqvarna 401 to arrive at a relatively lower price tag than the ktm 390 duke, which retails at 2.75 lakh rupees at ex-showroom India.
Yamaha Fzx
Yamaha India will soon update its product portfolio with the launch of its retro-style 150cc motorcycle that could be named FZX. The upcoming Yamaha FZX is inspired by the Yamaha xsr range that is sold in several international markets. We have already got a close glimpse at the upcoming Yamaha fzx through spy photographs and its resemblance with the xsr 150. The styling of the upcoming fzx model will include a round full led headlight, a boxy fuel tank with a black stripe on the top, a single piece saddle and an engine cowl, the fzx will be packed with lots of rugged elements. I also like to see features such as dual-purpose tyres and fork gators. as Spy images have revealed that the fzx will be available in at least three colour options black, blue and orange. the mechanical specifications would be similar to the existing fz series. The Yamaha fzx will use a 149cc single-cylinder engine that would deliver 12.2 bhp of maximum power and 13.6-newton meters of peak torque. The hardware will be similar to the fz fi range and thus the shock absorption tasks would be handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. And the braking setup would include single discs on both ends, while the safety net would include a single channel abs. The Yamaha FZX launch date could be 18 June 2021. The newest member of the fz range Yamaha FZX price might carry premium above the existing models which is 1.4 lakh at ex-showroom.
Upcoming Yazdi Bike
Last on the list is a new product that will come from classic legends, Yazdi. The Mahindra subsidiary will further expand its product portfolio by reviving the Yazdi brand in India. The patent documents have confirmed that the upcoming motorcycle will be called the Yezdi Road king. The upcoming model will be built from scratch, although a spy photograph has revealed that the upcoming motorcycle will feature a scrambler design, the motorcycle will ride on wire-spoke wheels that would be wrapped in dual-purpose tires. The spy images have also revealed styling elements such as a round headlight at the front, a curvy fuel tank, a single piece saddle with a ripped seat cover and a rear fender mounted number plate. the upcoming Yazdi will use a single-cylinder liquid-cooled setup, and the hardware on the USD motorcycle will feature telescopic front forks twin-sided shock absorber for the rear and disc brakes on both ends. The test mule appeared to be in the early stages of development and the production-ready model might be some time away. The classic legends introduced all Jawa motorcycles in the month of November and it will be interesting to see if the company follows a similar strategy for the Yezdi brand. and I will like to see the new Yezdi road king in our market by the end of 2021. The upcoming Yezdi could be launched price at 1.8 lakh rupees in ex-showroom India.
